One of the C8 Corvette's biggest highlights is its starting price:
$59,995. But like so many modern cars, there's a number of packages and
options that can drive the price up. Chevy's just put up the car's configurator on its website, complete with pricing. The Road & Track staff has been tinkering with it all morning.
Currently, the site only has the coupe available to configure. Seeing as how the convertible was unveiled just yesterday,
that's not surprising. The quickest way to drive up the price is to
choose either the 2LT or 3LT trim levels, or go for the $5000 Z51
performance package (a must-have in our eyes). Other pricey options
include Magnetic Ride shocks ($1895), a nose-lift system ($1495), or a
carbon fiber ground effects body kit, shown on my goofy configuration
above ($4895).
If I were actually ordering a new 'Vette, I'd probably go for a Rapid
Blue-painted car with the 2LT package—I like having ventilated seats,
satellite radio, and wireless phone charging. I'd also get the Z51 pack
(how could you not?), as well as Magnetic Ride and the Competition sport
bucket seats. I'd skip the nose lift, high wing, engine appearance
package, and any sort of racing stripes. The price? $76,685 for me, or
nearly $17,000 more than the base MSRP.
If you want to configure your own C8, head on over to Chevy's configurator site
now. And yes, if you must know, you can get a Corvette into the
$100,000 range if you check enough boxes. But we wouldn't recommend it.
