The Lamborghini Concept S, based on the Gallardo, was introduced as a
non-running one-off at the Geneva Motor Show in 2005. Interest from
potential buyers led the automaker to green-light the car for a limited
production run of 100 units, but the costs ended up being too great, and
the project was cancelled. There's only one running example, and it's
coming up for auction this month.
Designed by Lamborghini's then
head of design Luc Donckerwolke, the Concept S was meant to be an
extreme interpretation of the Gallardo Spyder. There's no roof, and the
cockpit is split into two areas. Each occupant gets their own windshield
and roll bar. The center section acts as an air inlet for the
520-horsepower V-10 engine, and gives the car a distinct look.
The car has driven less than 124 miles since new, most of which was
from moving the car to and from various shows, and around the lawn at
the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance (twice!). It's coming up for auction on November 30 during RM Sotheby's Abu Dhabi event. There's no price estimate given, but given the car was sold by RM in 2017 at Monterey for $1.32 million, expect it to come in at somewhere around that price.
