If you've always wanted a car from Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus, but didn't have the money to afford it, we have some good news for you. Founder and CEO James Glickenhaus published an announcement on Facebook over the weekend outlining plans to offer a kit car inspired by the Lotus 7 and Porsche 959 Dakar rally cars, with a lower price point.

Above, a rendering of a Glickenhaus 004S designed for high-speed off-roading released by the company in March 2020.

The car, called the 004/Mini Boot, will be offered as a home-built kit through Glickenhaus's website, and won't include an engine. Designed to meet all of New York state's homebuilt/custom kit car requirements, it will be powered by a 2.2-liter Chevy Ecotec engine, which you'll have to buy and install yourself. Mounted behind the driver, it will send power to the rear wheels via a Sadev transaxle as standard. Four-wheel drive will be an option.

Glickenhaus says the kit can include everything but the engine, including a muffler system with the right catalytic converter to help pass emissions. He also suggested the car could be eligible for events such as the Baja 1000 and Dakar. Other details, such as pricing and what the car will look like, should be available sometime soon.

We can't wait.
