Husqvarna introduced its new EE 5 mini electric dirt bike last year, and for 2021, the Austrian manufacturer has partnered with Stacyc to bring two new electric balance bikes to its lineup with the Husqvarna Factory Replica Stacyc 12eDrive and Husqvarna Factory Replica Stacyc 16eDrive.
Billed as an ideal choice for 3- to 5-year-old riders who have little or no experience on a balance bike, are under 75 pounds, and have a 14- to 20-inch inseam, the 12eDrive features an aluminum frame, a steel BMX-style fork, tapered footrests, 12-inch composite wheels with pneumatic tires, a 13-inch seat height, and a claimed weight of 17 pounds with its 2AH, 20V lithium-ion battery installed. Both the run time and charge time of the battery are said to be 30 to 60 minutes.

The 12eDrive utilizes a proprietary drive system that has three power selection modes including low/training mode that is limited to 5 mph, medium/transitional mode with a top speed of 7 mph, and high/advanced mode with a maximum speed of 9 mph. The drivetrain consists of a BMX chain and freewheel.
The 16eDrive is designed for children with some experience on a balance bike who are a little taller and need a larger platform. Husqvarna recommends this bike for riders between the ages of 4 and 8, and who weigh less than 75 pounds and have an 18- to 24-inch inseam. Like the 12eDrive, the larger 16eDrive model also has an aluminum frame, a steel BMX-style fork, tapered footrests, BMX chain and freewheel, pneumatic tires, and a proprietary drive system that has three power selection modes with the same names. However, the 16eDrive has bigger 16-inch composite wheels, a taller seat height of 17 inches, and weighs more at a claimed 20 pounds with its lithium-ion battery installed. The battery has an increased amp-hour (AH) specification than the 12eDrive at 4AH, but is still a 20V unit.

The 16eDrive comes with a new high-output brushless motor, which is said to have additional low-end power and torque allowing for more aggressive riding on more varied terrain. The 16eDrive’s top speed is also higher than the 12eDrive in its medium/transitional mode and high/advanced mode at 7.5 mph and 13 mph, respectively. The run time is the same as the 12eDrive at 30 to 60 minutes, but the charge time is longer at 45 to 60 minutes.
In addition to the 12eDrive and 16eDrive having color, trim, and graphics inspired by the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing team’s motorcycles, both bikes also come with a selection of number plate decals including 1, 21, 15, and 16 so that young riders can choose which of their favorite Husqvarna Supercross and motocross rider’s digits they want to run.
